Exposing the Lie Jehovah Witness

Bible vs NWT

Bible vs NWT

1. Understanding the Problem: “Lowercase g Syndrome”

Jehovah’s Witnesses use the New World Translation (NWT), which alters key verses to deny the deity of Jesus Christ and the personhood of the Holy Spirit.

The “Lowercase g Syndrome”:
They translate verses proving Jesus’ divinity as “a god” (lowercase), diminishing His equality with the Father.

Examples:

  • John 1:1: “The Word was a god.”
  • John 10:33: “You, although being a man, make yourself a god.”
  • John 1:18: “The only-begotten god.”

Because these verses require lengthy explanations of Greek grammar, avoid them when witnessing.

2. What Jehovah’s Witnesses Believe about Jesus

  • Jesus is not God.
  • He is the first creation of Jehovah—identified as the Archangel Michael.
  • Michael ceased to exist when Jesus was conceived.
  • The “life force” and memories of Michael were placed in the man Jesus.
  • When Jesus died, Michael was recreated.
  • The Holy Spirit is merely an active force, not a person.

Therefore:

  • Their God is not your God.
  • Their Jesus is not your Jesus.
  • Their spirit is not the Holy Spirit.

3. How to Witness Effectively

A. Know their Bible better than they do.
Use the New World Translation to reveal contradictions.

B. Avoid corrupted verses.
C. Use verses they translated correctly.
D. Communicate clearly: use language they understand. Don’t say “Jesus is the Father.”

Your goal is not to win a debate, but to bear witness to truth and lead them to Christ.

4. Verses to Avoid (Due to Corruption)

PassageIssue in NWTWhy to Avoid
John 1:1“The Word was a god.”Leads to Greek grammar debate.
John 1:18“Only-begotten god.”Misleads about Jesus’ nature.
John 10:33“Make yourself a god.”Lowers Jesus’ divinity.
Acts 20:28Adds “the blood of his own Son.”“Son” not in Greek.
Titus 2:13“The great God and of our Savior.”Splits one person into two.
Philippians 2:9Adds “every other name.”Denies Jesus’ supreme name.
Colossians 1:16–17Adds “other” four times.Makes Jesus a creature.

5. Key Verses You Can Use Effectively

Use the New World Translation (NWT) itself. These are less altered and powerfully expose their contradictions.

A. Jehovah = The First and the Last

Isaiah 44:6 (NWT):

“This is what Jehovah says, the King of Israel and his Repurchaser, Jehovah of armies: ‘I am the first and I am the last. There is no God but me.’”

Isaiah 48:12 (NWT):

“Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel whom I have called. I am the same One. I am the first, I am also the last.”

Jehovah alone claims the title “the First and the Last.” Now compare this with Jesus’ own words.

B. Jesus Claims the Same Title

Revelation 1:17–18 (NWT):

“When I saw him, I fell as dead at his feet. He laid his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the living one; and I became dead, but look! I am living forever and ever.’”

Ask:

“When did Jehovah die?”

They’ll realize this is Jesus speaking.
Conclusion: Jesus is Jehovah in the flesh.

6. Additional Verses (Effective in NWT)

DoctrineReferenceWhy It Works
Jesus is CreatorHebrews 1:10Still calls Him “Lord” who founded the earth.
Jesus is WorshipedRevelation 5:13–14All creation worships “the Lamb.”
Holy Spirit SpeaksActs 13:2; John 14:26Still shows personhood.
Jesus Forgives SinMark 2:5–7Only God forgives sin.
Jesus Called GodJohn 20:28“My Lord and my God” remains unchanged.

7. Summary of Approach

  1. Pray for the Spirit’s guidance.
  2. Use their Bible to show contradictions.
  3. Avoid Greek arguments—they won’t listen.
  4. Focus on Christ’s identity.
  5. Show translation tampering using their own Interlinear.
  6. Be calm and loving—aim for conversion, not argument.

8. Example Witness Exchange

You: Who is “the First and the Last” in Isaiah 44:6?
JW: Jehovah.
You: In Revelation 1:17–18, who says, “I am the First and the Last... I became dead”?
JW: Jesus.
You: So, when did Jehovah die?
JW: (Silence)
You: Exactly. Scripture reveals Jesus is Jehovah in the flesh.

9. Final Encouragement

Remember, our battle is not with flesh and blood but against spiritual deception.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are not our enemies—they are captives who need the truth of the real Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God.
Stand firm, wield the sword of the Spirit, and speak truth in love.

John 8:32 — “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
